Death & Bittersweet Reverie
When someone dies, we are not sad because they no longer have their life- We are sad because they are no longer in our lives and even when we attempt to bring ourselves comfort by remembering all the times we had with our loved one, the fact that we will not be able to enjoy their presence anymore brings us to an inconsolable, empty reminiscent paradox .
"Memories, even bittersweet ones, are better than nothing."
Jennifer Armentrout
Yes, I do always say that so long as we hold their memory close to us then we can never actually lose them and I very much beleive this but it doesn't stop us from missing their smile, their laugh, their voice, their smell...........
" Our dead are never dead to us, until we have forgotten them"
George Eliot
It is this bittersweet symphony of memories that keeps our loved ones close to us after they pass but also keep the longing for them alive. This is what makes loss so unbearable.........The lonely dance between happiness and grief....
