Save your V.O.I.C.E.
President Trumps address to Congress drew a lot of attention. I think, for the most part, the attention was positive, and rightfully so, in my opinion. I don't remember the last time I heard so much unifying language come out of a President's mouth since the address given by President Bush right after the 911 attacks. I am not sure why so many have such negative perceptions about being proud of ones country and wanting the best for it's citizens. It would seem , to some, like Nationalism can be directly related to Fascism or Nazism, both accusations are ridiculous, especially since it is an overused concept by most people who share a sense of nationalistic pride for countries they have never been to, though their family lineage directs from them. It is a sense of Nationalism that keeps this country evolving and attempting to move away from our dark history. In my opinion, our country can only improve when we all decide that it is our love of the country , and it’s future, that will save it. People shouldn't confuse a loyalty to their country and a loyalty to their government.
Anyways, one of the things I did not like about the speech were the talks about the forming of V.O.I.C.E. (victims of immigration crime engagement.) Intended to give a Voice to families who have suffered loss to the actions of illegal immigrants. Seriously, is this really necessary? No, I do not think that anyone who has suffered unjust loss at the hands of any criminal should go unheard but it is not necessary and completely overly dramatic to form an entire group over it. I think this will cast very unneeded fear of all illegal immigrants, especially the ones who are harmless. Now, before I am ridiculed by the right wing zealots, let's make one thing clear. I do not stand for illegal immigration, I don’t care what country one is coming in from illegally, it is all bad to me. No,this is not the point. No, I do not want to debate this. Yes, I will make you look like a fucking moron if you try to debate me against it. Having said that, I acknowledge that all illegal immigrants have broken the law to get into this country and that, even though they may have not intended to, they are hurting this nation and it’s citizens economically, in revenue and wages. Again, not the debate I want to get into and yes, I can easily debate this. The problem that I do have is that by championing and publicizing this VOICE program, the administration is going to create fear and hate for ALL illegal immigrants, even though not all are physically or violently dangerous. Yes, there are certainly some that have come into the U.S. and have caused lots of crime , but to accept that this is the normal behavior of illegal immigrants is wrong. I know of many who are in the States illegally who will never hurt a fly. They just wanted something better, and though I do not agree with the way they decided to pursuit this quest, I do not think they intended and may have not even understood the damage they were doing, they are in no way a cause for fear amongst the citizens of this country. The VOICE program is dramatic. I don’t agree with tit. Not to the extent the morons who are trying to make ties to Nazis over it , ( seriously, until the president intends to murder millions of people, can we get off the Hitler references? Any person can make ties to any political party ,EVER, and Hitler, if they truly wanted to, Stop being fucking sheep.) but I don’t think it’s needed at all.
