Independence Day Rant

240 years ago, men of honor willingly signed a document that made each of them traitors to the Crown which is punishable by death. They believed in the theory of a free nation with a limited government controlled by its own citizens. They believed in it so much that they courageously sealed their fates on paper. "Freedom or Death!" They shouted. I only wonder if the people we trust with our nation today will put their lives on the line for what they believe in.

"Votes or Death!"?

People may say what they wish about America, I however, would never want to be anywhere else.Call me Naive, but even with all its faults, I believe in Freedom and the American dream. I believe anybody in this country has the opportunity to be whatever they choose whether it be homeless or prosperous.

"Patriot"

Philosophical, Intelligent brave and passionate. Those who write and speak of the perils we face today. Those who understand what the dream of America was and where it has gone wrong. Those who will gladly, publicly voice their belief and stand proudly with them.

It is you Patriots that the Government fears. They will call you extremists, they will call you the enemy but not me. Whether I agree or don't with your views, I call you Patriot and along with my true respect for our Armed Services, who selflessly put their lives on the line to defend our country, you too, American Philosopher, poet, writer, rebel, have my respect. The Spirit of '76 lives in you!

America is not perfect. It has been a constant growth since it started. Anyone who dismisses the atrocities of our past should not tout the successes of our present. It is because of these injustices, this farsightedness of our adolescent countrymen that has brought us closer to the definition of what America should be.

We have moved forward in the pursuit of making the words "Freedom for All" and "All Men created Equal" truly relevant, however, had those revolutionaries not made the efforts they did, had they not taken the chances they did and wrote the document they did, this growth, this pursuit would never have been possible.

With all her faults, there is hope, and just as it has grown over the centuries, there will always be the opportunity to grow as a nation and as a people. With the protection of the our Servicemen and women on constant guard, we will always and forever stride for a better union. In this "Melting Pot" of a nation, where different Races, Nationalities, Traditions and Customs come together, a final product is made and this product is called The American, and it is a good product.

I hope that Independence day becomes a day of reflection for where we started from to where we're going. There is no betterment standing still, one can only move forward to see a change. With the willingness of the Creator, it'll be a change for the best.
